This revised edition of the book originally published by the Malta Study Circle, records life in Malta during World War I both for Allied Forces and Prisoners of War. It contains the most comprehensive selection of such cards ever to have been assembled. It illustrates postcards of early 20th century Malta which were bought by the thousands of wounded and convalescing servicemen wishing to communicate with their families back home. It also carries numerous photographs of life in a prisoner of war camp, ranging from sporting and cultural activities to the crafts applied by the prisoners themselves. The wide range of Malta greeting cards inscribed in English, French and Italian reflect the military alliances prevailing at the time.
