The Addolorata Cemetery
The Addolorata Cemetery is the crowning achievement of Emmanuele Luigi Galizia (1830–1907), Malta’s most eminent nineteenth-century architect whose Gothic Revival language marked a decisive break from the deeply-rooted Baroque tradition. In addition, the design and form of the cemetery created a unique space for architecture and artistic invention in the design of chapels and sepulchral monuments.
