Maltese Facades
This book provides a manifesto of a selection of still existing edifices and street facades which one hopefully augurs will not suffer the same fate as so many similar buildings already lost in the current lunatic construction mania. It is an individual’s heartfelt plea, as lover of his native land, auguring that what he has documented will be preserved for posterity.
Charles Paul Azzopardi’s photographs are manifestations of memory encapsulated in a mnemonic storage cage, photographs of what future generations will be able to recall of their transient lost past. It is important to note that the old not only connects us to, but also teaches us about our past.
