The Inquisitor’s Palace
an architectural gem spanning centuries and styles.
The Inquisitor’s Palace complex was developed during centuries when secular and religious power were, in particular cases, wielded by the same institution. In such cases power was exercised by extremely talented individuals, coming from intensively competitive ruling families, who ascended to leading positions of command, who were both proficient and effective, particularly in the fields of law and financial administration.
The greater part of the Palace’s external fabric and several architecturally significant internal volumes of the complex, previously not open for public viewing, underwent significant restoration and conservation interventions focused on providing the Palace with a new lease of life. A few remaining interventions on outside elevations are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2015.
