Richard Ellis The Photographic Collection (Valletta & Floriana) Vol 1
This is the first of a succession of volumes and it is fitting to start with a tribute to Malta’s capital city Valletta and its suburb Floriana; after all this is where Richard Ellis set up his studio, the hub of Maltese life.
The photographs, mostly taken on a large-format studio camera, have been carefully reproduced from the original glass-plates using the latest digital technology so that all the fine detail and luscious tones are reproduced faithfully, in this publication.
Richard Ellis has given the Maltese nation a treasure of timeless images which place these islands in the forefront when it comes to photography even in its early stages of gestation. This collection is an invaluable source of reference for photography studies and historical research.
