The Origins Of Maltese Statehood
This is a case study of decolonization in the Mediterranean. It seeks to paint and to frame a picture of how Maltese statehood originated in the early 1960s, what was going on behind the scenes. It does this mainly through the voluminous original correspondence released in the expertly organized and managed British archives in London.
Some of the relevant archives had become accessible after more than thirty years. These documents deal mainly with Colonial and Commonwealth Relations Office affairs.
