Ġiuseppi Maria Caruana 1899-1964
Maltese artist Ġużeppi Maria Caruana was an active painter between 1920 and 1960. After his formal training in Malta with Lazzaro Pisani, he furthered his studies in Rome at the Accademia di Belle Arti, the Liceo di Arte Moderna, and the British Academy. Caruana was highly requested to paint in churches and his work can be admired in the parishes of Ħaż-Żabbar, Siġġiewi, Naxxar and other churches across Malta. This publication documents Caruana’s work, featuring both his church commissions as well as private collections.
