Girolamo Gianni in Malta
This catalogue was published concurrently with the exhibition and focuses attention on the Maltese works of the Neapolitan artist, Girolamo Gianni (1837-1895).
The various contributors give well researched insights into Gianni’s life, and create a clear context for his paintings, underlining the major events that surrounded his art. A critical analysis of the works is also provided. Furthermore, this publication explains and justifies the urge amongst Maltese collectors to own one of Gianni’s visions of Malta.
