British Maps Of Malta
This thematic exhibition on British Maps of Malta, spanning the 17th to the early 20th centuries, has been set up by the Malta Map Society in collaboration with Heritage Malta. The exhibition forms part of the many activities, lectures, and site visits organised to host the participants of the 41st IMCOS (The International Map Collectors’ Society) International Symposium, titled Imago Melitae 2024 held in Malta.
The maps and charts found in the catalogue are the products of British cartographic skill and showcase various aspects of geographical, political, maritime and infrastructural Malta. They deal with historic events, leisure, epidemics, administration, navigation, propaganda and geology. Several maps, both printed and manuscript, have been included for the very first time.
